These are the questions people ask before they decide whether to start — cost, your job, and what happens to what you send. They come first because they are the ones that decide whether the rest of this is worth reading.
Does it cost anything to find out?
No. Answering the questions and sending your documents is free, and so is the firm's decision about whether they can act.
Will my employer find out?
Not from us. Nothing is sent to anyone you work for. If a case goes ahead, what happens then is something you and the firm decide together.
What if I still work there?
That is common, and it does not stop you finding out where you stand.
How long does it take?
The questions take most people well under an hour, and you can do them in pieces. After that it depends on the firm.
What if I do not have the documents?
Send what you have. A gap is a normal part of a case. We will tell you which things would help most, and why.
What if the firm says no?
You are told, and you can take it elsewhere. A firm turning a case down is not a decision about whether you have a claim — firms decline for all sorts of reasons that have nothing to do with you.
Can you tell me if I have a case?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Worker Rights Line is not a law firm and cannot give you legal advice. Nothing on this site creates a relationship between you and a lawyer, and reading it is not the same as being advised.
